SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship amount before the dissertation exam (“minimovka”) is €1,025.50.
After passing the dissertation exam, it increases to €1,194.
In addition to being a PhD student, you you will receive a part-time employment contract.
WORKING HOURS
Working hours are set by the study regulations of IEE SAS at 37.5 hours per week.
If you need to work outside the institute, ask your supervisor for permission. You will need to fill out a form available on the intranet (Consent to Work Outside the Workplace), have it signed by your department head, and place it in the mailbox labeled “Personnel and Payroll Office” (Referát personálnej a mzdovej práce).
If you need to leave the SAS campus during working hours, you must fill out a permission to leave (priepustka) and have it signed by your department head or his/her deputy. The rest of the process may vary depending on the reason for leaving (doctor’s appointment, business or personal matter), ask a more experienced colleague or the reception desk for details.
Reception service is available from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. After that time, you need to sign the book at reception (so the last person does not accidentally lock you inside). The exact procedure will be explained by the reception staff.
If you plan to work on a public holiday or during weekends, you must fill out the form “Permission to work at night and on holidays” (downloadable from the intranet), have it signed by your department head, then by the director, and finally, request the building access code from the IEE SAS reception — they will explain the full process to you.
VACATION
As employees of the institute, we are entitled to 40 days of vacation (according to our collective agreement). Out of these 40 days, you must set aside at least 5 days for mandatory vacation during the Christmas holidays.
When planning your vacation, you need to fill out a vacation form and have it signed by your department head (or his/her deputy). After that, place the form in the mailbox on the first floor near the staircase, labeled “Personnel and Payroll Office”.
All these matters are handled by Ing. Marta Zofcsáková.
SICK LEAVE
In case of short-term sick leave (PN), you need to submit the sick leave certificate to Ing. Marta Zofcsáková. This is important for information purposes, but note that your scholarship amount is not affected by sick leave.
BUSINESS TRIPS
Business trips should be arranged well in advance. This includes travel administration, flight booking, insurance arrangements, etc. Mgr. Eva Žiačiková handles all these matters and will be happy to help with the details.
After completing a business trip, you need to submit both the expense report and a business trip report. Again, Mgr. Eva Žiačiková can guide you through this process.
BENEFINTS
You are entitled to a meal allowance for every day that you are present at the institute (excluding vacation days, business trips, etc., but including days when you worked remotely or from home). The meal allowance is automatically calculated and added to your salary each month.
For working in a hazardous environment (e.g., X-ray radiation, toxic substances, etc.), you are entitled to 5 additional days of vacation and a supplementary payment. The request must be submitted to the committee for assessing work in hazardous environments. If you are interested, please contact Ing. Eva Kováčová.
Printers and Computers
There is a black-and-white printer on every floor, which is accessible for all computers logged into the IEE SAS domain. The copier and color printer are shared for the entire institute and are located on the first floor near the balcony. You can also print from your computer to this color printer. For details on how to use the printers, ask your colleagues.
IT and Network Support
All matters related to institute computers, network, and associated devices are handled by Mr. Martin Grujbár. The form needed to create an email account is available on the intranet (“Request for access rights to email“).
Library
The library is managed by Ms. Anna Gömöryová. There is a book database for the institute, and we also have the option to borrow books from other sources or purchase new books if needed. The institute has a license to access a scientific article search server, providing full-text access to many articles. You can access this through the IEE SAS library website, where you will also find a list of the journals we subscribe to.
Intranet
You can find additional useful forms and documents on the intranet. We strongly recommend exploring this page. However, be aware that it is only accessible from the institute network, so you will receive an error message if you try to access it from home.
