IEE SAS as co-founder of the SK Chips association
The newly founded interest association SK Chips wants to contribute to the development of the ecosystem of semiconductor technologies in Slovakia.
On Friday 22.11.2024 the constituent meeting of the interest association of legal entities named Slovak Centre for Semiconductors or SK Chips in short took place. The founding members of the association are the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic (ME SR), the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic (ME SR), the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, and the Association of the Electrotechnical Industry of the Slovak Republic (ZEP).
The aim of the association is to contribute to the development of the ecosystem of semiconductor technologies in Slovakia through the coordination of stakeholders from the commercial, public and research area in the development of state policy, strategy, and legislation. An important part of the activities also aims to inform the decision-making sphere and the general public about the benefits of semiconductor technologies and the development of international cooperation with similar organisations in the EU.
At the meeting, the association approved its internal rules and elected formal representatives. In one of the points, Dr. Michal Mičjan informed about the first success of the association, which won the support for the project “Slovak Competence Centre for Semiconductors and Back-end Technologies” in the call for Call for proposals for Chips Competence Centres under the Digital Europe programme funded by Chips JU. The project, focusing on the development of the semiconductor industry ecosystem in Slovakia with an emphasis to semiconductor chip packaging, received the maximum number of 15 points in the evaluation.
We are convinced that this activity will lead to intensified cooperation between IEE SAS and STU with relevant industrial partners and will also attract new investments of companies in to reserch in Slovakia.
