Continuation of successful cooperation with Taiwan’s ITRI

Representatives of the Taiwan Representative Office in Bratislava (TROB), Mr. David Li Nanyang, together with the director of the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (IEE SAS), RNDr. Vladimír Cambel, DrSc. and the rector of the Slovak University of Technology, Prof. Ing. Maximilián Strémy, PhD. signed their third cooperation agreement on October 16, 2025, confirming the continuation of a joint project with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Taiwan.

As part of the cooperation, IEE SAS is building a laboratory for the reliability analysis of the semiconductor power modules, which will be manufactured in the clean rooms of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology STU on the basis of a joint tripartite agreement. The agreement also includes a joint research project with ITRI focused on the development of power electronic devices based on (ultra)wide bandgap semiconductors (GaN and Ga2O3). In addition to the research itself, the long-term goal of joint projects between IEE SAS, FEI STU, and ITRI is to educate new experts in the field of wide bandgap semiconductor technology (GaN, Ga2O3, SiC) for the development and assembly of power modules for electromobility.
