The village of Smolenice is best reached by bus or car. Buses leave from the Bratislava main bus station, which is called Bratislava AS Mlynské Nivy. Participants can either take the Conference bus provided for this occasion or use the public bus service from this station. The Conference bus will leave the Bratislava main bus station on 2 October 2005 (Sunday) at 17:00. Please wait for the Conference bus in front of the main entrance to the bus station. The Bratislava - Smolenice (timetable) bus ticket costs 74 or 78 Slovak crowns for adults. You may need to pay an extra 10 Sk for luggage. To get off the bus, please ask the bus driver for the ‘Smolenický zámok‘ stop. To reach Bratislava quickly by air, it is best to fly to Bratislava airport (BTS) or to Vienna-Schwechat airport in Austria (VIE) (40 km west of Bratislava). From Bratislava airport, you can take a taxi to the Bratislava main bus station. The taxis waiting at the airport can be expensive. Should you wish to book your own taxi, Yellow Taxis (Tel. 00421 2 4444 1111) have operators who speak English. From Vienna-Schwechat airport you can take a Eurolines bus (timetable) or a taxi to travel to Bratislava main bus station. Participants who will travel via Budapest and Prague can take IC and EC trains to get to Bratislava. The distances from Budapest to Bratislava and Prague to Bratislava are about 200 and 330 km, respectively. The number 210 trolley bus runs from the train station to the AS Mlynské Nivy main bus station. You will need to buy a 10 minute ticket from a kiosk before boarding the trolley bus. The ticket costs 14 Sk. You do not need to pay for luggage if it does not exceed 30 x 40 x 60 cm. If it is larger, you will also need to buy a luggage ticket for 7 Sk. The ticket(s) need to be validated in a machine when you board the trolley bus. Those who will travel by car can reach Smolenice from Bratislava following the detailed instructions on road maps.
